I just finished watching the film "HERO" starring Jet Li. A very different movie. Very different from what I expected but still very good... fascinating...
I want to quote these lines from the movie...
It's just dawned on me!
This scroll of Broken Sword's isn't about sword technique,
but about swordmanship's ultimate ideal.
Swordmanship's first achievement
is the unity of man and sword.
Once this unity is attained,
even a blade of grass can be a weapon.
The second achievement is when
the sword exists in one's heart,
when absent in one's hand.
One can strike an enemy at 100 paces
even with bare hands.
Swordmanship's ultimate achievement
is the absence of the sword
in both hand and heart.
The swordsman is at peace with the world.
He vows not to kill,
And to bring peace to mankind.
It's not easy to put thoughts into words, especially when the subject under consideration is Zen :)
